Super Junior member Kim Hee-chul is shedding light on the comedic side of his recent online interactions, explaining the playful 'lawsuit' joke with fellow member Donghae and the supposed 'falling out' with YouTuber Chungju Man (Kim Sun-tae).

In a recent video uploaded to his personal YouTube channel titled 'Lee Hyuk-jae XXX,' Kim Hee-chul addressed various 'quips' surrounding his entertainment persona. He shared a lighthearted anecdote about his strong bond with member Eunhyuk (real name Lee Hyuk-jae), whom he was once mistakenly thought to have had a falling out with over lunch boxes.

Recounting a moment at a concert in Hong Kong where he saw a banner reading 'Did you sue Donghae oppa?', Kim Hee-chul expressed his amusement at how much fans, even internationally, enjoyed the 'lawsuit meme' between him and Donghae. He revealed that he and Donghae even exchanged 'subpoena' memes on social media while preparing for their Super Show concerts, much to the fans' delight.

However, not everyone took these jokes lightly, with some expressing concerns about trivializing legal matters. Kim Hee-chul admitted, "I didn't realize it would be perceived as this serious."

He also touched upon an episode from the JTBC show 'Knowing Bros,' where members Mijoo and Youngji were seen arguing over him. He mentioned a story where YouTuber Chungju Man talked about 'cutting ties' with him after buying him a meal. "But we have to consider the 'broadcast potential,'" Kim Hee-chul emphasized.

Kim Hee-chul explained that while he often plays the role of teasing his 'Knowing Bros' castmates like Seo Jang-hoon and Kang Ho-dong, he actually enjoys being teased himself. When Chungju Man shared his story, Kim Hee-chul initially hoped for a playful retort but realized that a purely comedic response might not have been as engaging if he hadn't set up the narrative. "It was about finding the best 'broadcast angle,'" he stated, adding, "That's why I wondered why he wasn't replying to my messages."

He reassured Chungju Man, who had apologized profusely, that there was no need for regret, calling it a fun episode and not something to be taken seriously. "If we have to issue statements for things like this, then comedy has become too harsh a world," he remarked. He further argued that if his interactions with Seo Jang-hoon and Kang Ho-dong were viewed as problematic, he would constantly have to apologize.

"If Youngji, Mijoo, or Chungju Man were truly on bad terms with me, they wouldn't be able to appear on broadcasts," Kim Hee-chul asserted. "If the lawsuit joke with Donghae were real, it would have been reported seriously. There's a dynamic between us."

He expressed his fondness for Super Junior's variety show appearances, noting, "Our members hit me really well." He elaborated on the concept of 'defensive tactics' in comedy, stating, "If everyone just presents their backside to be hit, it doesn't make for good television. It's not good if there's no one to hit, and it's not good if only one person wants to hit. The key is how deliciously you take the hit." He cited Jeong Jun-ha as a prime example of someone who takes hits masterfully.

Kim Hee-chul acknowledged that there's an element of "adding to it for broadcast" in their comedic exchanges. He recalled an instance on 'Knowing Bros' where he asked Kyung-hoon to stop, as the issue had escalated beyond expectations, even leading the show to release unreleased footage. "If it goes too far for broadcast, it loses its fun," he concluded, highlighting the importance of 'comedic defensive tactics'.

Kim Hee-chul debuted as a member of Super Junior in 2005 and has since become a prominent figure in various variety shows due to his exceptional comedic talent.

Beyond his music career, he has showcased his versatility as an actor, radio DJ, and MC, solidifying his status as an all-around entertainer.

Recently, he has been actively engaging with fans through his personal YouTube channel, 'Kim Hee-chul Universe,' sharing a diverse range of content.
