Acclaimed director Park Chan-wook has candidly shared his feelings about not winning an award at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival for his latest film, 'He Cannot'.

In an interview with SBS '8 News', Park admitted, "It would be a lie to say I didn't have expectations, as my film consistently ranked at the top in aggregated reviews and scores from critics and the press."

Despite the lack of an award, the director expressed his unique experience with the audience reception. "The audience's reaction was warmer than for any of my previous films. I heard that everyone laughed and even applauded, which was unbelievable," he stated.

With 'He Cannot' set to premiere on the 24th, the film is already topping pre-sale charts. Park expressed his hope that the movie will play a significant role in drawing audiences back to cinemas, which have struggled since the pandemic.
