Son Ho-young, a member of the iconic K-pop group god, has touched hearts by revealing a heartwarming anecdote about donating the entire 100 million KRW prize money he won from a past cooking competition.

In a video uploaded on December 12th to the YouTube channel ‘Channel Fifteen Nights’ titled ‘The National Group god and a Sentimental Memory Trip | Na PD’s Sentimental Journey’, the god members appeared in full, engaging in a relaxed conversation with PD Na Young-seok.

During their chat, Son Ho-young’s victory on the show ‘MasterChef Korea Celebrity’ was brought up. He calmly stated, “I won the grand prize of 100 million KRW back then.” When PD Na Young-seok expressed surprise at the substantial amount after taxes, Son Ho-young shared an unexpected story.

He recalled, “Early in the filming, I was asked what I would do if I won 100 million KRW. Honestly, I never even considered winning, so I just wrote ‘I’ll donate it all’.” He explained that he ended up winning and, true to his word, donated the entire prize money.

Upon hearing this, the other members couldn't help but laugh. Park Joon-hyung remarked, “That’s just Ho-young. It’s funny because he just accepts situations like this,” making the set erupt in laughter. When PD Na asked if his life had always been this way, the members nodded in agreement.

Son Ho-young’s ‘generous concession’ didn’t stop there. He added, “The grand prize was a new double-door silver refrigerator.” He then revealed, “My competitor in the finals, Fei, mentioned that she really wanted to give that refrigerator to her parents.” Thus, he ended up giving away the prize money as well as the winning product.

Fortunately, with the production team’s consideration, he received an additional refrigerator, which led the members to exclaim, “That’s such a relief,” and applaud. PD Na commented, “With a personality like that, you must have experienced many disadvantages in life,” to which the members agreed, expressing their concern.

However, Son Ho-young saw it differently. He calmly stated, “Even if I face disadvantages, I feel at ease doing so.” His members nodded, acknowledging, “People don’t change easily,” highlighting a moment where Son Ho-young’s unpretentious sincerity and character shone through once again.
