Kim Byung-man's Wife Tears Up on 'Lovers of Joseon,' Reveals Struggles of Solo Motherhood

The wife of comedian Kim Byung-man shed tears on TV Chosun's 'Lovers of Joseon' as she opened up about the emotional burdens she has carried alone.

During the broadcast, she was shown preparing a meal for her family. In an interview with the production crew, she confessed the difficulties of their life, often unable to share everyday moments due to her husband's public profile. "There's almost nothing we can do together, and I think that's quite tough," she shared, adding, "Our ordinary lives are subject to attention because of my husband's work, so I can't even go to the hospital when our child is sick."

She revealed that despite numerous situations where she couldn't be with her husband, she never once expressed discomfort. "I just feel overwhelmed by it alone," she said, her eyes welling up. "In fact, I feel a bit sorry (for the children)," she confessed, her voice tinged with sadness.

She also shared a particularly poignant story from her pregnancy, where she didn't inform her husband, Kim Byung-man, and went for a pregnancy test alone. "It's because I didn't want attention drawn to the fact that it was Kim Byung-man's child," she explained. "I thought it wasn't the right time for us to be in the spotlight, and that a time to announce it would come."

Finally succumbing to her emotions, she recalled the experience of her pregnancies and childbirth, which she endured alone. "I was scared. If it had been a natural birth, I don't think I could have done it alone," she said, calmly recounting her C-section. Even as she spoke composedly, her pent-up emotions surfaced, and tears flowed. Her young daughter, witnessing her mother's distress, showed surprising maturity by saying, "Don't talk about Dad," leaving viewers deeply moved.

Kim Byung-man announced his marriage in October 2022 to a non-celebrity woman after a seven-year relationship. He is reportedly seven years older than his wife, and they have two daughters. In past broadcasts, Kim Byung-man frequently expressed his unwavering affection for his wife.
