Director Jang Young-seok of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Trai: We Become Miracles’ (hereafter ‘Trai’) has expressed his profound gratitude and admiration for lead actor Yoon Kye-sang.

In a written interview with OSEN on the 10th, Director Jang emphasized, “The character Joo Ga-ram might seem inconsistent at first glance, but it was all Yoon Kye-sang’s power as an actor that stitched these points together and created a three-dimensional figure.”

He further elaborated, “The aspects I discussed most with Yoon Kye-sang and pondered over were his relationship with Bae I-ji and the illness Joo Ga-ram suffers from. We debated extensively on why Joo Ga-ram hid the illness from I-ji and how he would approach his role as a director while having that condition. Through various directorial cues and the actor's added ideas, I believe we achieved a result I am satisfied with.”

Yoon Kye-sang transformed into Joo Ga-ram, the new coach of the perennial underdog Hanyang Technical High School rugby team, captivating viewers with both laughter and tears. He perfectly embodied Joo Ga-ram’s sincerity towards rugby and the Hanyang Tech students, alongside the romantic storyline with his ex-girlfriend Bae I-ji (played by Lim Se-mi), once again proving his acting prowess.

Director Jang shared his heartfelt sentiments, stating, “I dare say it was the best combination, the best team. I believe not only Yoon Kye-sang, Lim Se-mi, and Kim Yo-han, but every actor in ‘Trai’ played an irreplaceable and brilliant role. Every moment we spent together was precious and I am grateful.”

Meanwhile, ‘Trai’ is a comedic coming-of-age sports drama about the unpredictable, eccentric coach Joo Ga-ram and the last-place Hanyang Technical High School rugby team's race towards winning the national championship. The series concluded on the 30th of last month, recording a peak viewership rating of 7.9% and 6.6% in the Seoul metropolitan area.

Yoon Kye-sang debuted in 1999 as a member of the group god, marking the beginning of his entertainment career. As an actor, he has showcased stable performances across various projects, gaining recognition for his acting in the 2011 film 'Poongsan'. More recently, he has demonstrated his broad acting spectrum with memorable roles in dramas such as 'Should We Kiss First?', 'Good Casting', and the film 'The Night Owl'.
