Ock Joo-hyun Issues Second Apology Amidst Public Scrutiny Over Agency Registration Issues
Musical actress Ock Joo-hyun has released a second apology regarding controversy over the unregistered operation of her agency, but public sentiment remains largely unconvinced. On the 12th, Ock Joo-hyun took to her agency TOI Entertainment's official social media to admit that a lack of understanding regarding administrative procedures led to incomplete registration when she established her one-person agency in April 2022.
"Due to my inexperience and lack of knowledge about administrative procedures, certain steps were missed during the registration process for a cultural arts planning business, which led to delays in completing the necessary paperwork," she stated, bowing her head in apology. She further explained, "Immediately after recognizing the mistake, we took corrective measures and completed the registration application on September 10th, and are currently awaiting approval." Ock Joo-hyun also released supporting documents to emphasize her commitment to rectifying the situation.
However, the public remains skeptical, with many pointing out that as a veteran entertainer with 27 years of experience since her 1998 debut with Fin.K.L, claiming ignorance of administrative procedures lacks credibility. Criticisms such as "It sounds like an excuse" and "Trust has already been broken" are prevalent online.
The controversy is likely to lead to a police investigation and legal proceedings. A complaint has been filed with the 'Gukmin Sinmun' (National E-people) online portal, and the local police station is expected to launch an inquiry. Operating an unregistered business can result in imprisonment or fines.
Ock Joo-hyun is currently performing in the musical 'Marie Curie'.
