(G)I-DLE's Yuqi Drops Energetic Y2K Hip-Hop Concept Photos for 'M.O.'

Yuqi (YUQI), a member of the popular K-pop group (G)I-DLE, is gearing up for a comeback with an old-school hip-hop vibe infused with Y2K sensibility.

Cube Entertainment released the second set of concept photos for Yuqi's upcoming first single, 'Motivation,' specifically for the title track 'M.O.,' on the group's official social media channels on the 15th.

In the unveiled photos, Yuqi showcased her bold charm by pairing street fashion with a hat featuring the lyrics 'M.O.' Her blonde, hippie-perm hairstyle and a daring pose, biting a necklace, evoked the essence of 1990s old-school hip-hop.

This new single, 'Motivation,' follows her first mini-album 'YUQ1' released last year and the digital single 'Radio (Dum-Dum)' from March. Yuqi had previously garnered significant love for 'FREAK,' the title track and a self-composed song from 'YUQ1,' as well as 'Radio (Dum-Dum).'

Through this new single, Yuqi aims to present an even more expanded version of her unique musical identity. The pre-released music video for the B-side track 'Sadness' has already garnered immense attention, topping the music category on the Chinese platform Bilibili and ranking third overall on QQ Music's music video chart, along with second place on the Korean chart. It also secured high positions on Apple Music's popular music video chart in Korea and YouTube's daily popular music videos, further amplifying expectations for her upcoming activities.

Yuqi's first single 'Motivation' is set to be released on various music platforms on the 16th at 6 PM KST. Additionally, a pop-up store event celebrating the single's release, titled 'YUQI 1st Single [Motivation] POP-UP,' will run from the 19th to the 28th.

Yuqi is known for her powerful dance performances and distinctive vocal tone within (G)I-DLE. As the group's only Chinese member, she brings a unique cultural perspective to their music. Her solo endeavors have showcased her growth as an artist.
