Urban Zakapa's Cho Hyun-ah Admits to Using Weight-Loss Drug Wegovy, Jokes About Eating Six Meals a Day
Cho Hyun-ah, a member of the group Urban Zakapa, has openly disclosed her use of the weight-loss medication Wegovy. However, she humorously confessed that she still struggles to control her appetite.
In a YouTube video posted on the channel 'Pungja TV' on the 17th, Cho Hyun-ah stated, "I can't eat because of Wegovy," revealing she has been taking it for three months. Host Pungja playfully questioned her, "You were still overweight three months ago, what are you talking about?"
Despite this, Cho Hyun-ah insisted, "It's strange. Even though I'm on Wegovy, I'm still hungry. I ate six meals a day." Pungja responded, "Didn't we just drink together recently? You ate that whole, large portion of spicy stir-fried chicken stew. You gained a lot of weight then, though you seem a bit thinner now."
Pungja further exposed Cho Hyun-ah's eating habits, noting that she often uses "I'm on Wegovy" as an excuse when she doesn't want to eat something, but readily indulges in spicy or highly desired foods. "That day, when I asked 'Do you want gimbap?', you said 'Unnie, I can't eat because of Wegovy.' But then you ordered the whole spicy chicken stew and ate it all, and even had ramen," Pungja revealed.
Wegovy, which Cho Hyun-ah mentioned, is a GLP-1 class obesity treatment that has garnered global attention. Originally developed for diabetes, its weight-loss effects have made it a major focus in the diet market. While it's so popular in Korea that it causes shortages, experts advise its use should be based on medical necessity due to potential side effects.
Cho Hyun-ah debuted with the group Urban Zakapa in 2010 and is known as their main vocalist. She is beloved for her exceptional singing skills and unique vocal tone. Beyond her group activities, she has also been active in solo projects and various variety shows. Her honest and cheerful personality has endeared her to fans.
