Shim Soo-chang Addresses Divorce Rumors with a Jibe: 'Marriage is Madness'

Former baseball player Shim Soo-chang has directly addressed the recent divorce rumors surrounding him.

A video titled 'Fiery Press Conference Before the First Broadcast of 'Choi Kang Baseball'' was uploaded to the KBS Sports YouTube channel on the 22nd.

The video featured Shim Soo-chang and other cast members, where he candidly spoke about the swirling speculation.

Previously, a media outlet had reported that Shim Soo-chang had divorced through amicable agreement, drawing significant public attention.

While discussing the 2026 KBO rookie draft on the show, Shim Soo-chang humorously remarked, 'I should have had a child sooner.'

In response to fellow panelists inquiring about his emotional state following the divorce news, Shim Soo-chang stated, 'I'm okay,' adding, 'I was also surprised. I didn't even give an interview, but I received so many calls.'

He further lightened the mood with a bold statement, 'Marriage is madness,' eliciting laughter from those present.

Additionally, Shim Soo-chang playfully expressed his ambition to have a future son pursue football instead of baseball, aiming for a career in the Premier League.

He married a jewelry businesswoman in 2018.

Shim Soo-chang debuted in the KBO League with the Lotte Giants on March 18, 2008. He later moved to the LG Twins in 2014 and played for the KT Wiz in 2016. After his athletic career, he has expanded his activities into broadcasting.
