BLACKPINK member Rosé has achieved a historic milestone for K-pop, clinching the prestigious 'Song of the Year' award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), one of the four major popular music awards in the United States. This marks the first time a K-pop artist has won in this category.

Rosé's collaboration track 'APT.' with Bruno Mars earned her this significant honor. The song had already achieved remarkable success, reaching number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Accepting the award, a visibly moved Rosé expressed disbelief and gratitude towards Bruno Mars, her fans, and everyone who believed in her. She dedicated the award to her 16-year-old self, who dreamed of such an achievement.

Rosé was nominated in a staggering eight categories, including 'Video of the Year' and 'Song of the Year' for 'APT.', along with five other nominations for the song. Her solo track 'Toxic Till The End' also secured a nomination for 'Best K-Pop'. This multi-nomination, especially in the top categories, is unprecedented for a K-pop artist. Adding to the night's success, BLACKPINK took home the 'Best Group' award, making it a double win for Rosé.

Born in 1997, Rosé spent her childhood in Australia after being born in New Zealand. She passed YG Entertainment's audition in 2012 and debuted with the group BLACKPINK in 2016. Rosé is globally adored for her unique vocal tone and stylish performances.
