Indie rock band 3-Ho Line Butterfly is taking flight once again with their first album in eight years, and has been selected as Melon's 'Track Zero' artist for September, a project dedicated to invigorating indie music.

The band's members, Nam Sang-ah, Seong Ki-wan, and Kim Nam-yun, recently appeared on Melon Station's 'Track Zero' special, sharing updates on their activities and discussing their music.

After a hiatus since their 2019 concert, the trio, featuring vocalist Nam Sang-ah, bassist Kim Nam-yun, and guitarist Seong Ki-wan who rejoined after a nine-year absence, made their comeback. Their return kicked off with a performance at the Pentaport Rock Festival last month, followed by the release of their new mini-album, 'Hwanhee Bora Bbaat', marking the end of their long break.

Seong Ki-wan expressed his feelings about returning after nine years, joking, "I felt sorry for being away, and now I've decided not to run away again." Kim Nam-yun mentioned that six years quickly passed while working on drama soundtracks and album production. Vocalist Nam Sang-ah shared her experience opening a Korean restaurant in Nice, France, with her husband after their last performance in 2019, stating, "It was enjoyable to communicate and share emotions with people, just like with music. Opening and closing felt like coming home after a concert."

Despite marking their 25th debut anniversary this year, Seong Ki-wan remarked, "We're not really the type to celebrate anniversaries," but acknowledged that the Pentaport programmer's invitation sparked a chain reaction leading to their return.

Nam Sang-ah added, "My work reached a turning point, allowing me a break, and last year, the opportunity to sing again ignited my desire to return. I also hoped to collaborate with Ki-wan again someday, so I was happy."

During the music talk segment, behind-the-scenes stories about their new album 'Hwanhee Bora Bbaat' were revealed. The members also shared hidden gems that reflected their musical tastes: Kim Nam-yun chose 'Yuye' by 9 and the Numbers, Seong Ki-wan selected Gal Costa's 'Divino Maravilhoso', and Nam Sang-ah picked Son Lux's 'Easy'.

Their upcoming solo concert commemorating the new album's release sold out within two minutes of tickets going on sale, leading to an additional show being confirmed. The members emphasized, "You won't be able to see Nam Sang-ah because she has to return to France," expressing their anticipation for meaningful encounters with fans on stage after their extended hiatus.

3-Ho Line Butterfly is an indie rock band that debuted in South Korea in 1997.

The current lineup consists of vocalist Nam Sang-ah, bassist Kim Nam-yun, and guitarist Seong Ki-wan.

In 2024, they were selected as Melon's 'Track Zero' artist for September following the release of their first album in eight years.
