GIDLE's Yuqi Unveils Diverse Charms in Upcoming Solo Single 'Motivation'

Yuqi (YUQI), a member of the group (G)I-DLE, is set to showcase an unprecedented level of concept adaptability with her first single album, 'Motivation.' The pre-released track 'Doll' (아프다), unveiled on the 10th, delicately portrayed the pain of heartbreak, raising fans' anticipation.

Last year, Yuqi demonstrated her broad musical spectrum by crossing various genres such as dance, rap, hip-hop, and R&B on her first mini-album 'YUQ1.' With this new single, she hints at a different charm through a ballad song featuring emotive guitar sounds.

In the music video for 'Doll,' Yuqi collaborated with Chinese actor Wang An Yu (왕안우), powerfully conveying the story of a couple who inevitably had to part ways. Particularly in scenes where she reads a letter and sheds tears, she captured fans' hearts with her deep emotional acting, contrasting with her usual bright and energetic image.

While the previously released digital single 'Radio (Dum-Dum)' was a boom-bap hip-hop track that accepted breakups with a nonchalant attitude, 'Doll' expresses the raw emotions faced at the moment of separation, based on band sounds, creating a contrasting atmosphere. Both songs, while dealing with the theme of heartbreak, evoke diverse empathy through different genres and messages.

Yuqi, who boasts exceptional adaptability across genres, attempts diverse transformations in her first single 'Motivation' as well. The music video teaser for the title track 'M.O.' left a strong impression with its 1990s retro aesthetic, incorporating fashionable outfits and a beat emphasized by keyboard sounds.

The title track 'M.O.' is a boom-bap hip-hop track that captures Yuqi's powerful energy. While sharing the same genre as 'Radio (Dum-Dum),' it is expected to deliver a new message. Following 'Doll,' 'M.O.' will likely showcase Yuqi's free musical color, unconstrained by specific genres or messages.

'Motivation,' Yuqi's first single showcasing her infinite potential as a solo artist and producer, includes a total of three tracks: the title track 'M.O.', the pre-released song 'Doll,' and the Chinese version of 'Doll', '还痛吗 (Hai Tong Ma)'. The single will be released on various music sites on the 16th at 6 PM.
