Actor Lee Jang-woo's Curry Restaurant 'Garae' Closes Doors After 9 Months, Vows New Beginnings

Actor Lee Jang-woo's highly anticipated curry specialty restaurant, 'Garae,' has officially ceased operations.

Opened in December of last year, 'Garae' ran for approximately nine months before concluding its business on September 1st. A notice on a map application reads, "Operations have ended as of September 1st. Thank you for your patronage," confirming the closure.

The restaurant operated on a simple concept, offering a base curry dish with customizable toppings and additional items. While it garnered significant attention as 'Lee Jang-woo's Curry House' upon its launch, customer reviews were mixed, with some offering praise and others expressing disappointment.

Lee Jang-woo previously shared the difficulties of running a restaurant on a YouTube channel. He candidly admitted, "At first, business was good, but then I started hearing that the taste was changing. My employees were extremely exhausted from preparing ingredients and boiling over 100 pig heads daily, which eventually led to a drop in quality. I tasted it myself and found it wasn't delicious." Despite the setback, he expressed a determination for new challenges, stating, "Okay, I admit it, I need to start over."

During the opening, his fiancée, actress Cho Hye-won, offered her support, and fellow celebrities, including Jung Joon-ha, sent congratulatory wreaths. Despite the initial wave of support, 'Garae' ultimately closed its doors after just nine months, leaving a sense of regret.

Meanwhile, Lee Jang-woo is set to marry actress Cho Hye-won on November 23rd. The couple met in 2018 through the drama 'My Only One' and publicly announced their relationship in 2023.
