Singer Yim Jae-beom Reflects on 40 Years in Music: 'It Gets More Difficult Over Time'
Veteran singer Yim Jae-beom shared his candid thoughts as he celebrates his 40th anniversary in the music industry, stating, 'Music becomes more difficult as time goes on.'
During a press conference held on the 17th at the Ilji Art Hall in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, to commemorate the launch of his 40th-anniversary national tour concert, 'I am Yim Jae-beom,' the singer expressed his feelings.
'When I first started music as a young person, I was fearless and thought I could do anything. But after 10, 20, and 30 years, each step feels daunting, and I wonder if I'm doing it right,' Yim Jae-beom confessed. 'It truly gets more difficult.'
He humorously recalled congratulations from peers, noting, 'The most memorable remark was, 'You've really aged.' They also said, 'You're past your prime now, you've worked hard.''
To mark his 40th year, Yim Jae-beom is preparing to release his 8th full-length album, kicking off with the new song 'Insa' (Greeting), which will be pre-released today at 6 PM. This marks his first new work in about three years since his 7th album 'SEVEN,' and it's described as a pop gospel track conveying his apologies and gratitude to his fans.
The national tour, 'I am Yim Jae-beom,' will commence in November, starting with a concert in Daegu on the 29th, followed by stops in Incheon, Seoul, and other cities across the country. This tour follows his previous one, 'The Road Home...', held from 2022 to 2023.
Yim Jae-beom debuted in the 1980s as the vocalist for the rock band Sinawe, establishing himself as a legendary figure in Korean rock music. His distinct husky and powerful vocals have inspired numerous junior artists. His music transcends generations, delivering profound resonance, and his ballad songs, in particular, have been cherished for a long time.
