Singer WOODZ is set to share intriguing behind-the-scenes stories from his viral performance of 'Drowning' on MBC's 'Radio Star'. The track, originally released in 2023, unexpectedly surged in popularity after a special performance during his military service gained over 19 million views on YouTube.

During his appearance, WOODZ revealed that he was not in the best condition on the day of the 'Armed Forces Day' special stage. He explained, "In the military, we wake up at 6 AM and sleep at 10 PM. That time was supposed to be for preparing my performance. As a result, my voice was hoarse, and I sang with a pained expression."

Despite his struggles, the emotional rendition resonated deeply with viewers. WOODZ speculated, "Perhaps because I was a soldier singing with a strained expression, it seemed to convey more emotional depth." He also humorously pointed to a fellow soldier's enthusiastic reaction in the video, saying, "This person really played a big part! I really wanted to thank them."

Reflecting on the song's unexpected resurgence while serving in the military, WOODZ expressed his gratitude, stating, "I've never received this much attention before. Having something do well while I'm in the military... there's nothing better than this." He added, "I just need to finish my military service diligently and then focus on my activities."

When asked by MC Kim Gura if he treated his junior soldiers well, WOODZ chuckled, "My seniors were younger than me, so I bought them things before, but I bought them even more generously then!" He even shared an anecdote about treating them to steak at a family restaurant during an outing, warming the hearts of the audience.

WOODZ's candid revelations about the 'Drowning' phenomenon can be seen on 'Radio Star,' airing tonight, October 17th, at 10:30 PM KST.
