Director Na Hong-jin Takes Helm as BIFF Competition Jury President: "I Will Do My Best with Sincerity"

Acclaimed director Na Hong-jin has shared his thoughts upon being appointed Jury President for the competition section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

Speaking at a press conference held at the Busan Cinema Center on the 18th, Na humbly stated, "I accepted this role at the recommendation of my mentor, despite feeling I have a modest filmography."

He expressed his sincere respect and gratitude to all the filmmakers who submitted their works for competition, acknowledging the years of dedication involved in filmmaking. "I promise to approach the judging process with utmost sincerity and do my very best," he declared.

Furthermore, Na conveyed his honor in serving alongside esteemed international and domestic jury members, vowing to deliver results befitting the festival's prestigious reputation. He also extended his thanks to the Busan International Film Festival for the invitation and specifically to director Park Kwang-su for his encouragement.

Director Na Hong-jin is widely recognized as a leading thriller filmmaker in South Korea. His films, including 'The Chaser,' 'The Yellow Sea,' and 'The Wailing,' have garnered immense critical acclaim both domestically and internationally for their unique direction and intense narratives.
