Youn Sang-ho's 'Face' Dominates Box Office in Second Week, Achieving 'Reverse Run' Success
Director Youn Sang-ho's latest film, 'Face', has claimed the top spot at the box office in its second week of release, continuing its impressive box office run.
According to the Korean Film Council's Integrated Network of Admissions, 'Face' attracted 254,827 viewers over the past weekend (19th-21st), bringing its total cumulative audience to 722,720. This 'reverse run' phenomenon, where the film performs better in its second week than its first, attests to the powerful word-of-mouth driving its success.
Meanwhile, director Park Chan-wook's new film 'It Can't Be Helped', set to premiere on the 24th, has garnered significant anticipation, currently leading real-time ticket reservations with a 58.2% share. 'It Can't Be Helped' tells the story of Mansu (played by Lee Byung-hun), who, after being suddenly laid off from a paper company where he worked for 25 years, prepares for his own battle to find re-employment.
Director Youn Sang-ho gained international acclaim for his 'Train to Busan' and 'Peninsula', which ignited the K-zombie craze. His works are known for their realistic messages and original world-building, attracting a large fanbase. His upcoming film 'The Time of Destruction' is also highly anticipated.
