Footballer Kim Young-kwang Reveals Shocking Car Swaps and Phone Case Spending on 'Same Bed, Different Dreams'
Footballer Kim Young-kwang appeared on the SBS variety show 'Same Bed, Different Dreams Season 2 - You Are My Destiny' and shared astonishing details about his past and current spending habits.
Married for 16 years with two daughters, Kim Young-kwang recounted the story of how he, a football player, met his wife, a doctor, when he was 22 and she was 25. He revealed that he fell in love at first sight during a meal in Seoul and proposed within 24 hours of meeting her. "I wonder why I did that, but I truly felt she was 'the one'," he confessed, reminiscing about that fateful encounter.
Kim Young-kwang went to great lengths to impress his future wife, inviting her to the All-Star Game and winning the MVP award. Despite having to travel to Ulsan for his grandmother's birthday just two days later, he insisted on driving her, deepening their fateful connection. After three years of dating, the couple tied the knot and are now celebrating 19 years together, showcasing their enduring affection.
However, Kim Young-kwang's 'excessive spending' habits also came to light. He surprised the cast by revealing that he used to purchase phone cases in batches of 50 or 100. He explained, "When I was earning well, I constantly changed my new phones. When that became a burden, I started buying cases. Changing the case made it feel like I had a new phone." He also confirmed the rumors of changing cars 31 times, stating, "I did that when I was earning a lot. If you count the phone cases I bought, it's like I changed phones that many times," eliciting laughter from the studio.
Meanwhile, his close friend Im Soo-hyang attempted to smooth things over by commenting, "At least he likes to share with people around him."
Kim Young-kwang began his football career with FC Ulsan in 2008. He played a key role in leading his team to victory in the FA Cup in 2018. After retiring from professional play, he has pursued a career in coaching, focusing on the development of youth football.
