Comedian Kim Hak-rae and Im Mi-sook's Son Kim Dong-young Parts Ways with Blind Date Partner Ye-eun on 'Chosun's Lover'
Kim Dong-young, son of renowned comedians Kim Hak-rae and Im Mi-sook, has officially broken up with Ye-eun, whom he met through the TV CHOSUN show 'Chosun's Lover'.
The broadcast on the 22nd depicted a poignant scene where Kim Dong-young broke the news of their separation to his parents, following a relationship that had started with promising sparks.
Initially, Kim Dong-young and Ye-eun, who met through a blind date in May, had grown close, even celebrating his parents' wedding anniversary together in July. However, as Ye-eun expressed dissatisfaction with Kim Dong-young's less expressive communication style, their relationship gradually cooled.
Kim Dong-young eventually contacted the production team in August, confessing, "There were differences in how we viewed our relationship. We met one last time to sort things out." He added, "We're not in contact, and it's completely over."
During the studio segment, Kim Dong-young expressed his heavy heart, stating, "My parents don't know we've broken up yet. They were so fond of her, and I don't know how to tell them."
Later, visiting his parents, he hesitantly announced, "It's over with Ye-eun. We've parted ways amicably." He elaborated, "There were differences in our opinions, and our personalities clashed often. Our paces were different, and ultimately, it didn't work out."
He further explained, "Ye-eun, being a regular office worker, felt burdened by public exposure and dating on a show." He concluded, "We decided to remain as friends who cheer each other on." When his parents expressed disappointment about the seemingly easy breakup, he mentioned, "I had even introduced her to my friends."
His mother, Im Mi-sook, was visibly shocked, saying, "I'm in shock. I thought everything was going well." Father Kim Hak-rae also expressed his sadness, noting, "Your relationship with Ye-eun was a source of vitality for us." Seeing his parents' disappointment, Kim Dong-young blamed himself, saying, "I think there's a problem with my personality."
To lift his spirits, Im Mi-sook suggested a haircut and a fresh start. In the car to the salon, Kim Dong-young reassured his parents, "My heart is settled. I just hope you won't be hurt any further." After a significant trim, aiming for a new image, Kim Dong-young declared a new resolution: "I never thought about marriage before, but my perspective has really opened up now. Since appearing on this show, I've decided I need to get married. I want to deliver the good news of marriage."
Kim Dong-young previously pursued a career as an actor, appearing in various dramas and films. He has often shared his candid thoughts on marriage through television programs. This experience on 'Chosun's Lover' has not only impacted his romantic life but also led him to make new resolutions for his future.
