Lee Hyo-ri's Yoga Classes Draw Rave Reviews: A New 'Yoga Syndrome' Brewing?
K-pop icon Lee Hyo-ri has successfully transitioned into a yoga instructor, with her first classes garnering overwhelmingly positive feedback from students. The yoga studio 'Ananda,' which opened on the 8th, is already buzzing with praise, raising expectations that Lee Hyo-ri might be on the verge of creating another cultural phenomenon.
A seasoned yogi with over a decade of practice, Lee Hyo-ri has previously shared her journey of finding peace and healing through yoga on various TV shows and social media. The opening of her first yoga studio in Seoul, after previously operating one in Jeju, has attracted significant attention. The studio's affordable pricing, with a single day pass costing 35,000 KRW, has been particularly lauded as reasonable. Lee Hyo-ri expressed her surprise at the immense interest, stating, "I didn't expect such a huge reaction just for moving locations."
To foster an environment focused on yoga rather than celebrity, Lee Hyo-ri implemented a strict policy prohibiting photos and videos during sessions. Post-practice, students are allowed to take group photos, which are made available for download on the 'Ananda' website.
Following her first class, Lee Hyo-ri shared her experiences on a radio show hosted by her husband, Lee Sang-soon. "Opening a yoga studio in Seoul feels different. It's been a while, so I was a bit flustered about what to teach," she admitted. She added, "It would be great if people come for Lee Hyo-ri but end up discovering the charm of yoga, or even better, register at a local yoga studio nearby."
Students' testimonials highlighted the effectiveness of the basic poses in understanding their body condition, the serene atmosphere complemented by Lee Hyo-ri's soothing voice, and the unexpected focus achieved despite initial fan excitement. The growing number of individuals taking up or returning to yoga suggests that Lee Hyo-ri's influence might indeed spark a new 'yoga boom.'
Lee Hyo-ri debuted in 1998 as a member of the iconic K-pop group Fin.K.L. She later launched a successful solo career, releasing hit songs like '10 Minutes' and 'U-Go-Girl,' establishing herself as a top female solo artist. Beyond music, she is widely beloved for her sharp wit and candid personality on variety shows.
