TV Chosun's entertainment program 'My Baby is Born Again' (hereafter 'My Baby') captured the nation's attention by broadcasting the very first quadruplet birth process in Korea.

The first episode, aired on the 16th, unveiled the rare story and tense moments surrounding the birth of quadruplets, who arrived against astronomical odds of 1 in 600,000. During an interview with host Park Soo-hong, the mother, who was 28 weeks pregnant, recalled initially thinking she was expecting triplets, only for one embryo to divide, resulting in quadruplets.

Medical staff highlighted the significant risks associated with carrying quadruplets, including premature birth, postpartum hemorrhage, and preeclampsia. They noted that sometimes doctors even have to recommend 'selective reduction' due to the immense danger to both mother and babies, adding a layer of poignancy.

On the day of the delivery, a large-scale collaborative surgery involving over 20 medical professionals took place. However, the delivery room was filled with the sound of alarms rather than the cries of newborns. The first baby, unable to breathe independently, was rushed to the NICU. The second also required a ventilator. The third, born beneath the fourth, experienced a drop in oxygen saturation, leading to a critical emergency situation with risks of brain damage and death. The fourth baby also failed to cry, intensifying the suspense.

Notably, the third and fourth babies, being identical twins, required simultaneous emergency treatment. The medical team remained on high alert, monitoring for complications such as brain hemorrhage, pneumothorax, and pulmonary hypertension common in premature infants.

Towards the end of the broadcast, the production team reassured viewers by announcing that the quadruplets are currently recovering well. 'My Baby is Born Again' shines a spotlight on the precious arrival of new life amidst South Korea's low birth rate crisis and airs every Tuesday at 10 PM KST.

This program garnered significant attention for documenting Korea's first live broadcast of a quadruplet birth. The arrival of quadruplets itself is an extraordinary event, given the rare probability of 1 in 600,000. The suspenseful delivery process and the dedicated efforts of the medical team deeply moved viewers.
