Yuqi, a member of the K-pop group (G)I-DLE, has officially launched her solo career with the release of her first single, 'Motivation.'

In a recent episode of Miyeon's web variety show, 'Miyeonzip MIYEON,' which aired on the 16th, Yuqi detailed the production process behind her new single.

Miyeon expressed her excitement for Yuqi's solo debut, stating, "I've always looked forward to Yuqi's solo work. She's the most rapidly growing person I know." Yuqi explained the title track 'M.O.' stands for 'Motivation,' describing it as a hip-hop track with an old-school vibe and intense emotions before delivering a live performance.

Yuqi highlighted her involvement in songwriting, lyrics, and production for the single, aiming to establish herself as a leading female idol in the old-school hip-hop scene. She revealed that the B-side track 'Sickness' was inspired by her late-night emotions while engrossed in romance films, with lyrics crafted to match her vision for the music video.

A touching anecdote emerged regarding the tearful scene in the 'Sickness' music video. Yuqi confessed her initial worries about her acting abilities, but during the filming of a letter-reading scene, the blank paper was replaced with a letter from her mother, prepared by her manager. This unexpected gesture moved her to tears.

The episode also featured Yuqi and Miyeon performing a captivating duet of Yuqi's digital single 'Dum-Dum' and Bruno Mars' 'Treasure.'

Following the release of 'Motivation,' Yuqi is set to meet fans through various music show performances, starting with Mnet's 'M Countdown' on the 18th.

Yuqi has been actively pursuing her musical journey not only with (G)I-DLE but also as a solo artist. She is recognized as a versatile artist possessing impressive music production skills. Her first single 'Motivation' is anticipated to showcase an expanded musical spectrum.
