SHINee member Key shared a touching family story during his appearance on the MBC variety show 'I Live Alone'.
On the broadcast, Key surprised everyone by revealing that his paternal grandfather, great-uncle, and maternal grandfather were all national merit recipients. He visited the National Daegu Cemetery to pay his respects to his paternal grandfather, who participated in the Korean War. Key mentioned, "September is a meaningful month for me, so I came to visit my grandparents after a long time," conveying his solemn feelings.
Key further disclosed that not only his paternal grandfather, but also his great-uncle, who fought in the Korean War, and his maternal grandfather, who served in the Vietnam War, are all enshrined at the cemetery. He explained, "My grandfather was injured by a gunshot during the war and had a leg injury." After being recognized for his contributions to the nation, he was laid to rest at the cemetery after his passing.
Key also recalled a childhood memory of watching the movie 'Taegukgi' with his family. He shared that his grandfather cried so much during the film that he couldn't watch it properly, vividly illustrating the brutality of war. He added that the memories from his elementary school days remain vivid.
