Actor Sung Hoon Shines as a Jack-of-all-Trades on 'If You Rest, We'll Be Well'
Actor Sung Hoon showcased his versatile talents on the MBC variety show 'If You Rest, We'll Be Well,' captivating viewers with his all-around performance. Alongside Choi Kang-hee, Park Joon-hyung, and Yang Chi-seung, he took on the challenge of running a remote island restaurant.
Upon the late arrival of new recruit Choi Kang-hee, Sung Hoon immediately headed out for sea foraging. Demonstrating his skills as a former swimmer, he impressively caught two abalones with just his sense of touch. He then utilized a vertical drop technique to navigate through seaweed, successfully retrieving rock whelks. "I felt a soft, squishy sensation the moment I caught it. I think I can pull my weight," he expressed with pride.
Continuing his efforts, Sung Hoon relentlessly gathered more rock whelks, engaging in a subtle rivalry with Park Joon-hyung. His competitive spirit peaked when he decided to hunt for octopus. Despite extremely poor visibility, Sung Hoon persevered with repeated attempts and engaged in a fierce battle with an octopus hidden deep within the rocky crevices. Ultimately, he managed to detach three of its tentacles and lifted a giant wild octopus by its body, earning gasps of admiration from the audience.
During high tide, he boarded a boat and moved to a fishing spot, hauling in a colossal net for a full-fledged fishing operation. His attention was captured by a school of cutlassfish, and after tasting some horse mackerel sashimi on the spot, he regained his energy. He then proceeded to catch mandarin fish, yellow croakers, and large cutlassfish one after another, embodying the essence of 'limitless stamina.'
Sung Hoon's prowess extended to the kitchen. He skillfully prepared the rock whelks he had caught and meticulously handled the large cutlassfish for a stir-fry dish, from removing internal organs to cleaning the skin and drying it, earning praise from the head chef. Furthermore, his warm gesture of running out to greet guests as soon as they arrived added a heartwarming touch to the atmosphere.
From sea foraging and fishing to assisting in the kitchen and welcoming guests, Sung Hoon's all-encompassing performance quickly established him as a 'Mega Jack-of-all-Trades,' responsible for both the fun and laughter of the show.
Sung Hoon debuted as an actor in 2009 with the drama 'The Sons of Neighbors'. He has a unique background as a former swimmer and actively participates not only in acting but also in various variety programs.
