MBC's upcoming variety show, 'Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung,' has unveiled its first teaser, signaling the official start of volleyball legend Kim Yeon-koung's new challenge as a director.

The program, scheduled to premiere on September 28th at 9:10 PM KST, follows Kim Yeon-koung as she establishes her own volleyball team, the 'Fil Seung Wonder Dogs.'

The teaser opens with Kim Yeon-koung, whose on-court charisma remains as strong as ever despite being a rookie director. The tryouts for her newly formed team showcase a diverse range of aspiring players, including those released from professional leagues, industrial leagues, and even former pros seeking a comeback. Impressed by their skills, Kim Yeon-koung exclaims, "I think we could even compete with a top-tier team! There's hope!" The lineup includes formidable players such as former national team member Pyo Seung-ju, promising to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Furthermore, the 'Fil Seung Wonder Dogs' are set to face off against professional teams like Kim Yeon-koung's former club, the Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders, IBK Altos led by veteran coach Kim Ho-chul, and the recent V-League runner-ups, the Gwangju Red Spark. International matches, including a highly anticipated showdown against Japan, are also teased, sure to captivate volleyball enthusiasts.

Adding to the entertainment, Kim Yeon-koung's signature witty remarks and comedic timing are expected to bring plenty of laughs, as she humorously shares her experiences, even joking, "MBC tricked me." 'Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung' is produced with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Communications Agency (KCA) and will premiere on September 28th.

Kim Yeon-koung is widely regarded as the greatest player in Korean women's volleyball history, earning the nickname 'Volleyball Empress.' She led the South Korean national team to the semifinals of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, receiving global acclaim. After retiring from the national team, she has embarked on a new journey to nurture future talent, garnering significant support.
