Director Yeon Sang-ho Amazed by Park Jung-min's "Toronto Star" Status: "Korea's Justin Bieber"

Director Yeon Sang-ho of the film 'Hope' (working title) expressed his astonishment at the immense local popularity of actor Park Jung-min during a press conference.

At the online press conference held on the 10th, Director Yeon remarked, "Park Jung-min was a star in Toronto." He shared that fellow actor Lim Sung-jae even dubbed him 'Korea's Justin Bieber,' adding, "A huge crowd of fans gathered at the entrance, which was very moving."

Director Yeon reflected on the joy of cinema, witnessing the 1800-seat theater completely filled. He was particularly surprised that a large audience remained for the Q&A session, which was scheduled past midnight. "I was truly taken aback when foreign journalists, during interviews, showed such a deep understanding of the film," he conveyed his gratitude for the unexpected level of engagement.

Responding to this, Park Jung-min humorously commented, "I feel like my popularity has grown significantly in the past two years. I never expected to feel the power of the Korean diaspora so strongly in Toronto." He playfully added, "I apologize to Mr. Bieber."

'Hope' tells the story of a son who investigates the truth behind his mother's death, who went missing 40 years ago, after her skeletal remains are discovered. The film is set to premiere on the 11th.
