SBS's popular variety show 'Dolsing4men' (also known as 'Take Off Your Shoes, Dolsing4men') has officially reached its 200th episode, marking a significant milestone.

Since its premiere in July 2021, the show, which aired its 200th episode on the 9th, has been praised for pioneering a unique talk show format. This success is largely attributed to the entertaining chemistry of its hosts: Tak Jae-hoon, Lee Sang-min, Im Won-hee, and Kim Jun-ho, all of whom are single men.

Director Seo Ha-yeon expressed surprise and gratitude, stating, "Even the production team didn't expect to reach 200 episodes." She recalled early skepticism, "Many doubted if viewers would tune in just to hear four single men talk about themselves." However, she added, "Surprisingly, viewers related to their stories, laughing and crying along with them."

PD Seo identified the show's "raw, unpolished charm" as the key to its longevity. "We've made a conscious effort to minimize broadcasting packaging and directorial embellishments," she explained. "Even though it's not live, we aimed to capture genuine reactions and even 'oops' moments without excessive editing. I believe this makes it feel like a 'real chat room' rather than a manufactured show."

The show consistently delivers laughter through its surprising guest lineups, with 'unexpectedness' being the primary point of selection. "We consider if a guest can create synergy with the Dolsing4men and if they can generate laughter within 10 minutes," Seo said. "When individuals with no prior apparent connection engage in playful banter with the hosts, the reaction is explosive." She shared an anecdote: "One guest, initially hesitant, saying 'I'm not even single, is it okay?', later remarked after filming that it was the most comfortable recording they'd ever had and recommended acquaintances as guests."

Looking ahead, PD Seo expressed a desire to invite global K-pop idols and 'legendary seniors' or individuals with past connections who could create a thrilling dynamic with the hosts. She also spoke fondly of the main cast, "Working in the editing room each week, I truly feel these four are naturals at variety shows." She emphasized the difficulty of maintaining a consistent tone over years and praised the hosts for returning to their 'beginner's mindset' every week, expressing sincere gratitude.

Regarding Lee Sang-min and Kim Jun-ho, who have both remarried ('saehon'), PD Seo noted, "Their new beginnings have actually expanded the show's narrative. It's no longer just about the pain of divorce, but about finding love again and discussing life from a new perspective." She anticipates, "The identity of the show will likely shift from being about 'singles' to more about 'people preparing for the second act of their lives,'" hinting at an even richer future for 'Dolsing4men.'

'Dolsing4men' airs every Tuesday at 10:40 PM.

PD Seo Ha-yeon has been instrumental in shaping the unique concept and appeal of 'Dolsing4men'. Her strategy of minimizing broadcast embellishments to preserve the 'raw' charm has resonated deeply with viewers, fostering a sense of relatable authenticity. By carefully selecting unexpected guests and highlighting the hosts' genuine interactions, she has successfully deepened the show's narrative and contributed significantly to its sustained popularity.
