Former SISTAR's Soyou Clarifies Plastic Surgery Rumors, Credits Makeup Skills for Her Looks
Former SISTAR member and solo artist Soyou has directly addressed recent plastic surgery rumors, attributing her refined features to her makeup expertise.
In a video uploaded to her personal YouTube channel 'Soyougi' on the 11th, titled "Soyou, Did She Get Plastic Surgery?! Let's Settle the Controversy," the singer appeared bare-faced to share her makeup techniques. Soyou explained that the overwhelming positive response to her makeup during her appearance on the show 'Sibicheung' prompted her to share her methods.
Regarding speculation about recent changes in her appearance, Soyou stated, "People are saying I've lost a lot of weight, and they wonder how it's possible with just weight loss." She added with a smile, "Honestly, I don't mind. I actually feel good about it. As you can see with my bare face today, I don't look that different from before."
She firmly denied rumors of lip fillers, explaining, "Some people mentioned lip fillers, but it's not true at all. I've often talked about how I emphasize my lips with makeup. I wanted to show it again for those who might not know my makeup tricks."
Soyou also shared an anecdote from her broadcast activities, recalling a guest who approached her privately asking about lip procedures. "I told them I didn't get them and showed them how it looks when I remove my makeup," she recalled with a laugh. She further admitted, "There were times when comments said my lips looked unnatural, but that was usually when I failed at drawing them."
Soyou maintained a relaxed attitude about the online discussions. "I see comments like 'She fixed her entire face' often, and I feel good every time because it means I've successfully lost weight," she explained. "When you lose weight, your features become more defined, and makeup can really make your eyes look different."
Concluding the video, Soyou shared her goal: "Through my makeup process, even those who are insecure about their lips can achieve a covered look. I wanted to show that you can transform through makeup, not surgery." She encouraged viewers by noting, "Consistent application makes them look fuller. I wanted to prove that a transformation is possible with makeup, not plastic surgery."
Soyou debuted in 2010 as a member of the popular girl group SISTAR, achieving widespread fame. She later launched a successful solo career, releasing hit songs like 'Some (Feat. Junggigo)', 'When It Snows', and 'Black Night'. Beyond her music, Soyou has established herself as a versatile entertainer, appearing on numerous variety shows such as 'My Little Television', 'The Unit', and 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?'.
