
Super Junior's Choi Si-won Clarifies Stance on Charlie Kirk Condolence Post
Choi Si-won, a member of the K-pop group Super Junior, has stepped forward to clarify his recent tribute to Charlie Kirk, a controversial figure.
Addressing the situation on the fan platform Bubble, Choi Si-won explained, "There have been many discussions regarding the Charlie Kirk tribute, so I wish to offer an explanation." He emphasized Kirk's roles as a "Christian, a family man, and a husband."
"Regardless of the circumstances, losing a life to a shooting during a lecture in front of numerous university students is an incredibly heartbreaking tragedy, irrespective of political leanings," Choi Si-won stated. "That is why I offered my condolences."
He further elaborated, "While I appreciate the significant media attention following my post, it seemed my intentions were being misinterpreted. I believed my sincere feelings had been conveyed, so I took down the post. However, given the continued interest, I am explaining myself now."
Choi Si-won had initially shared a post honoring Charlie Kirk on his social media on the 11th. Kirk, known for his far-right political views in the U.S., became the subject of criticism, leading Choi Si-won to later remove the post.
Charlie Kirk, founder and president of the conservative organization 'Turning Point USA,' was fatally shot on the 10th during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University in Utah.
