Former EBS Star Instructor Kim Hyo-eun Appointed Spokesperson for People Power Party
Kim Hyo-eun, also known by her instructor name Reina, a former EBSi instructor, is officially embarking on her political journey after being appointed as a spokesperson for the People Power Party.
On the 16th, the People Power Party, led by Chairman Jang Dong-hyuk, presented appointment letters to four spokespersons and five media spokespersons. Among them, Kim Hyo-eun attracted significant attention due to her background as an English instructor.
Ms. Kim was a prominent figure at EBSi, teaching English listening comprehension. Despite teaching a relatively less popular subject, she managed to draw a large student following, establishing herself as a 'star instructor.' Her striking resemblance to actress Kim Tae-hee even earned her the nickname 'EBS Kim Tae-hee.'
She was recruited as a youth talent by Han Dong-hoon, the then-interim leader of the People Power Party, ahead of the 22nd general election last year. Although she received a strategic nomination for the Osan district in Gyeonggi Province, she was ultimately unsuccessful in the election. During the campaign period, her English listening lectures for the highly anticipated CSAT preparatory textbook were made unavailable, leading to complaints from students. At the time, Ms. Kim personally apologized for the inconvenience caused by her unfamiliarity with the regulations.
Following her election defeat, Ms. Kim transitioned to the role of Policy Aide to the Minister of Education in July of the same year, gaining valuable policy experience. In July of this year, her name appeared in the lineup for the People Power Party's Innovation Committee, signaling her return to politics, and her appointment as a spokesperson further expands her sphere of activity.
Kim Hyo-eun, known as Reina, gained fame as an English star instructor on EBSi and was nicknamed 'EBS Kim Tae-hee' for her looks. Despite an unsuccessful bid in last year's general election, she has continued her political career, leveraging her educational background. Her transition into a spokesperson role marks a significant step in her public service.
