Actor Jung Woo graced the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) with his presence, attending with his directorial and starring film, 'Jjanggu'.

Adding special significance to his visit, he was honored as a recipient of the 'Filmmaker Loved by Busan' award, a title established last year.

During the pre-festival event held on the 16th at BIFF Square in Jung-gu, Busan, Jung Woo received a plaque of appreciation from Choi Jin-bong, the head of Jung-gu District Office. The festival committee playfully stated, "Following the Busan-infused film 'Winds', and now 'Jjanggu', just as you love Busan, we shout our love for you thirty-five times," highlighting his deep connection to the city.

Jung Woo shared the stage with director Yoon Je-kyoon, who also received the award. "I came to Seoul from Busan at 19 to become an actor. I am deeply moved to receive such a significant award from the Busan audience here," he expressed. He added, "I am sincerely grateful for the invitation to the Busan International Film Festival with 'Jjanggu', a story about the boy Jjanggu from 'Winds'. I promise to repay your support and interest as an actor and a person." He also noted his past collaboration with director Yoon on the film 'Himalaya'.

'Jjanggu', set to premiere globally in the 'Korean Cinema Today - Special Premiere' section, marks Jung Woo's directorial debut and his starring role. This project showcases his ambition as a creator beyond his acting career.

Joining Jung Woo at the festival are his co-stars from 'Jjanggu', including Jung Soo-jung, Shin Seung-ho, Hyun Bong-sik, Kwon So-hyun, and Jo Bum-gu, who will participate in various official events like Open Cinema and Audience with the Director (GV) to connect with fans.

The 30th Busan International Film Festival runs from September 17th to 26th in various locations across Busan.

Jung Woo previously served as a jury member for the 'Actor of the Year' award at the 27th Busan International Film Festival in 2022. With 'Jjanggu', he has demonstrated his capabilities not only as an actor but also as a director. The film serves as a spiritual successor to 'Winds', further emphasizing his affection for Busan. His dual role as director and lead actor in 'Jjanggu' highlights his evolving artistic expression.
