Sung Si-kyung Apologizes Twice Over Unregistered One-Person Agency Controversy
Singer Sung Si-kyung has issued two sincere apologies after it was revealed that he had been operating a one-person agency for 14 years without registering for a cultural performing arts business.
His agency, SK Jaewon, admitted to not being aware of the revised laws at the time of the corporation's establishment, leading to its unregistered status, and confirmed that registration procedures are underway. Sung Si-kyung then personally posted a lengthy message on his social media account, offering his second apology to fans and the public.
"It is the company's clear fault that we failed to grasp the implementation of the system in 2014 in a timely manner," he stated, bowing his head. "I will use this incident as an opportunity to reflect strictly on myself and act responsibly." He further clarified, "The omission in registration is entirely unrelated to concealing income or tax evasion. We have transparently reported our income through a tax accountant."
Netizens' reactions have been divided. Some criticized, stating, "Management has been too lax for 14 years," and "A responsible artist should have been meticulous from the start." Conversely, others positively assessed, "The attitude of admitting and trying to rectify is quick and sincere," and "At least it seems they didn't try to hide it."
While public disappointment over the prolonged management oversight remains, attention is focused on how Sung Si-kyung's sincere second apology will be received by the public.
Sung Si-kyung debuted in 1999 and has been widely loved for his sweet ballads and exceptional vocal talent. Beyond his singing career, he has showcased his versatility as an MC on variety shows and a radio DJ.
