The agency representing actress Jun Ji-hyun has strongly refuted allegations of a Chinese advertising boycott sparked by an 'anti-China controversy' stemming from dialogue in the Disney+ series 'Polaris'.

An official from Jun Ji-hyun's side stated on the morning of the 23rd that reports of her Chinese endorsements being canceled are completely baseless.

The representative further explained that the agency had communicated with local Chinese agencies, who confirmed the information was false. While scheduled events and ad shoots have been postponed, they have not been canceled. The postponement of events was decided prior to the 'Polaris' release, citing local circumstances at the time.

Jun Ji-hyun is currently starring in the Disney+ original series 'Polaris'. Amidst this, a line spoken by her character, Seo Moon-joo – "Why does China prefer war? A nuclear bomb could fall in the border area" – has caused significant backlash in China.

Consequently, there were calls for a boycott from some Chinese netizens targeting Jun Ji-hyun. The ripple effect led to suspicions that advertisements for products like cosmetics and watches, for which she is a model, were being canceled.

'Polaris' is a spy melodrama series about Moon-joo (Jun Ji-hyun), who built an international reputation as a UN ambassador, chasing the mastermind behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. She confronts a colossal truth threatening the Korean Peninsula alongside elite agent San-ho (Kang Dong-won), whose nationality is unknown, tasked with protecting her.

Jun Ji-hyun made her debut as a fashion magazine model in 1997, marking the beginning of her entertainment career. She solidified her status as a Hallyu star through major successes in dramas like 'My Love from the Star' and the film 'Assassination'. Jun Ji-hyun married her childhood friend, a businessman, in 2016 and they have two sons.
