The iconic musical 'Rent,' a 30-year-old American phenomenon, is set to return to the stage for its 10th season in Korea, opening on November 9th at COEX Artium.

After a two-year hiatus, 'Rent' promises an explosion of energy and new voices. The production boasts a blend of beloved returning cast members who have shaped the show's history in Korea and a host of talented newcomers, selected through rigorous auditions, who are ready to embody the show's unforgettable characters.

Inspired by Puccini's opera 'La Bohème,' 'Rent' chronicles the lives of struggling artists in New York's East Village. Created by Jonathan Larson, the musical fearlessly tackled contemporary issues like poverty, addiction, and the AIDS epidemic, giving a voice to the marginalized youth of the 1990s. Its revolutionary fusion of rock, R&B, tango, and gospel, presented in a 'song-through' format, has cemented its status as a landmark musical.

The show's enduring appeal lies in its raw energy and powerful score. Featuring hits like 'Seasons of Love' and 'Rent,' the musical's diverse musical numbers dramatically reveal the characters' inner struggles and triumphs, while a live five-piece rock band amplifies the immersive concert-like atmosphere.

This 10th season welcomes back Kim Soo-ha, who won Best Actress at the Korea Musical Awards for her role as Mimi in 2020. Jang Ji-hu, who previously played Roger, will take on the new role of Colin. Alongside returning favorites like Jung Da-hee, Jo Kwon, Kim Soo-yeon, and Goo Joon-mo, a fresh ensemble including Lee Hae-jun, Yoo Hyun-seok, Yoo Tae-yang, Solji, and others will inject new vitality into the production.

Kim Soo-ha, who plays Mimi, previously won Best Actress at the Korea Musical Awards in 2020 for her performance in 'Rent.'
