
Park Chan-wook's 'The Hand Cannot Lie' Dazzles at Toronto Film Festival; Lee Byung-hun Honored with Special Tribute Award
Director Park Chan-wook's latest film, 'The Hand Cannot Lie,' has captivated audiences at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The film, which was previously an official selection in the competition section at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and the opening film for the 30th Busan International Film Festival, successfully completed its red carpet premiere and gala screening on the 8th (local time).
'The Hand Cannot Lie' tells the story of Mansu (played by Lee Byung-hun), an office worker who faces unexpected dismissal and embarks on his own battle for re-employment. Invited to TIFF's Gala Presentations section, the film had its premiere screening at 9:30 PM.
Adding to the film's triumph, actor Lee Byung-hun became the first Korean actor to receive the Special Tribute Award at TIFF. He expressed his gratitude, stating, "I first heard the story of this film from director Park Chan-wook 15 years ago, and I'm thrilled it's finally on screen."
