James McAvoy Assaulted by Drunk Man in Toronto Bar
Acclaimed actor James McAvoy was reportedly assaulted by an intoxicated man while socializing with his 'California Schemin’' film crew in Toronto. The incident occurred on the evening of September 9th, according to People magazine.
McAvoy was reportedly struck from behind by a stranger, who had been asked to leave the bar due to his drunken state. A representative close to the actor shared that the man "just threw a punch" as McAvoy had his back turned.
Despite the unexpected attack, McAvoy is said to have handled the situation with grace, not escalating the matter and even laughing it off. His representatives have not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
James McAvoy is currently in Toronto for the International Film Festival. His directorial debut, 'California Schemin’,' is a biographical film based on the true story of a Scottish hip-hop duo. The group famously pretended to be American to gain recognition in the music industry.
