The assassination of far-right American political commentator Charlie Kirk has sent shockwaves across the globe, including reaching South Korea's entertainment scene. Celebrities like Hollywood actor Chris Pratt, Super Junior's Choi Siwon, and popular YouTuber Haejoo have found themselves embroiled in controversy after expressing condolences for Kirk.

Kirk was fatally shot on October 10th (local time) during a lecture at Utah Valley University. The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Rane Robinson, was apprehended. Kirk was a vocal opponent of gun control, famously stating that "some sacrifices must be made" to protect the Second Amendment, a stance that drew significant criticism even within the U.S. amid recurring mass shootings, particularly those involving children.

Even though Kirk had attended Christian events, his political alignment as a far-right figure overshadowed any perceived religious connection, prompting Choi Siwon to delete the post to quell the backlash.

Similarly, influencer Haejoo faced criticism for liking a post commemorating Kirk. She issued a lengthy apology on social media, admitting her ignorance about Kirk's political positions and regretting her actions based on a superficial understanding. She has since removed all related content.
