Today marks the second anniversary of the passing of the legendary actor Bong-pil Byun. He left us on September 18, 2023, at the age of 81, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, leaving a void in the hearts of many.

Debuting as an MBC voice actor in 1965, Byun transitioned to acting and captivated audiences in numerous popular dramas such as 'Country Diaries,' 'Heo Jun,' 'White Tower,' and 'Solsolsol My Son.' His performances were consistently praised for their depth and nuance.

His collaborations with director Bong Joon-ho are particularly iconic. From 'Barking Dogs Never Bite' to 'Memories of Murder,' 'The Host,' and 'Okja,' Byun was an integral part of Bong's filmography, enriching each project with his unique presence. In 2017, he graced the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for 'Okja,' a highlight of his distinguished career.
