Lee Yi-kyung Faces Down False AI Rumors; Agency Vows 'No Settlement' in Legal Action

Actor Lee Yi-kyung's agency, Sangyoung ENT, has officially announced a firm stance against defamation through the spread of false information.

Previously, an overseas netizen identified as 'A' falsely claimed an inappropriate relationship with Lee Yi-kyung on social media, disseminating private life rumors fabricated using AI. The posts even contained expressions hinting at sexual offenses, causing significant controversy.

Although 'A' posted an apology three days later, framing it as a 'prank,' the agency has made it clear that they will proceed with legal action without any settlement or leniency.

Sangyoung ENT stated, "We express deep regret regarding the recently spread false information and defamation," adding, "We have filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul against the creator and distributors of the related posts for spreading false information and defamation."

The agency emphasized, "There have been no attempts at settlement or discussions of compensation, nor will there be any in the future." They further stressed, "We will protect our actor's rights and interests to the end, preventing damage caused by fabricated information."

The agency plans to take strong action against all malicious posts that harm the actor's character and reputation, without showing any leniency.

Netizens are calling for severe punishment, stating, "Ruining someone's life with AI is a clear crime," and "We hope Lee Yi-kyung fights to the end to set an example." Many also commented, "Irresponsible rumor creators who thought they could get away with it because he's a celebrity must be punished."
