
Master Ahn Yu-seong Reveals Sister's Luxury Hanok Pension, Shares Heartwarming Family Story
Master chef Ahn Yu-seong has opened the doors to a luxurious Hanok pension run by his elder sister.
On the latest episode of KBS2's "The Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears" (hereafter "Sadangwi"), broadcast on the 14th, Ahn Yu-seong visited the pension located in Naju, managed by his youngest sister, Ahn Sun-young, who is nine years his junior.
Ahn Yu-seong explained his reason for visiting the pension with his first disciple and manager Hwang: "I brought them here to help out with the pension work, as my disciple isn't the most efficient worker." This surprise visit led to suspicions from MC Kim Sook, who asked, "Did you come here secretly?" Ahn Yu-seong confessed, "I figured they wouldn't follow if I told them beforehand."
The revealed pension boasted a stunning exterior blending traditional Hanok aesthetics with a spacious courtyard. The interior was equally impressive, featuring a kingly photo zone, a jacuzzi, a 130-year-old antique bed, a charming attic, and even a traditional oven with a large chimney, drawing exclamations of awe. Ahn Sun-young also showcased homemade gochujang and doenjang.
After assisting with the pension chores, Ahn Yu-seong made kimchi with his disciples and prepared Naju Gomtang. Meanwhile, Ahn Sun-young prepared a lavish nine-dish meal, including boiled octopus, potato pancakes, and zucchini pancakes.
During the broadcast, the origin of Ahn Yu-seong's childhood nickname 'Ttol-i' was revealed, along with a past anecdote of him stealing 10,000 won from his sister's wallet to move to Seoul. Ahn Sun-young shared her initial shock and later pride in witnessing her son's hard work and success. Ahn Yu-seong expressed his gratitude, stating he had finally repaid all the debts he owed to his sister and brother-in-law after 25 years. The episode concluded on a heartwarming note with Ahn Sun-young asking the audience to "continue to support our Ttol-i."
