Jeon Hyun-moo Shares Firm Stance on 'Advanced Learning': 'I Might Have Gone to Seoul National University Without My Mom'
Broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo has expressed his firm beliefs regarding advanced learning.
On the March 21st broadcast of the KBS entertainment show 'The Return of Superman' (Sadangwi), announcer Uhm Ji-in revealed her husband and two children, who were visiting Korea after a year and a half.
On this day, Uhm Ji-in brought her children to a consulting firm for career and aptitude assessments. Her husband shared the difficulties they face due to the children's education shifting between Korea and Japan, noting the financial strain of private education caused by language barriers hindering their academic progress. He revealed that monthly education expenses in Japan amount to approximately 2 million Korean won, drawing surprise.
Regarding concerns about the children's advanced studies, Director Lee Byung-hoon stated that it's common for students to begin high school curriculum in their first or second year of middle school, shocking the studio panel.
Watching this, Jeon Hyun-moo recalled his own childhood, humorously remarking, 'My mother was an overly zealous mom from Mokdong. I studied while being hit, but I might have gone to Seoul National University if it weren't for my mom.' He further asserted his belief, stating, 'Very few succeed through advanced learning. Most people end up neglecting current studies while trying to get ahead.' Jeon elaborated, 'Many high school seniors struggle with first-year high school material. They might know calculus but get stuck on geometry, causing complications.' He concluded, 'A little bit of advanced learning is okay, but I don't recommend pushing too far ahead.'
Jeon Hyun-moo debuted as a KBS announcer in 2006 and later transitioned to a freelance broadcaster, gaining immense popularity for his exceptional variety show skills. He has hosted numerous popular shows like 'I Live Alone' and 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant,' earning him the nickname 'Trendy Guy.' He is also known for his impressive academic background, being a graduate of Yonsei University.
