Comedian Kim Soo-yong Missed Out on a Fortune from Hit Sneakers, Revealing 5% Stake Regret
Comedian Kim Soo-yong shared his regret over a missed opportunity to become a major shareholder in a now-booming sneaker brand.
Appearing on the MBC variety show 'Radio Star' on the 10th, Kim Soo-yong updated viewers on his busy schedule with lectures and events following his move to Song Eun-yi's agency. He explained his lecture style, which focuses on content rather than jokes, honed through three months of intensive training, often sharing wisdom on living at one's own pace in a fast-moving world.
During the show, Kim Gu-ra brought up rumors that Kim Soo-yong had been a shareholder in a comfortable shoe brand he had previously recommended. Kim Soo-yong confirmed that he had held a 5% stake before the brand's massive success, a stake now reportedly worth tens of billions of won, evoking sighs of regret.
Despite the missed financial windfall, Kim Soo-yong maintained a humble stance, claiming to have no greed for wealth. However, when teased about appearing sad for missing a 'once-in-a-lifetime fortune,' he humorously conceded, "I am very sad."
Kim Soo-yong also opened up about his 17-year-old daughter, describing her as having a chic personality similar to his, but thankfully without his signature dark circles. He also shared a slightly bittersweet anecdote about her closer bond with her mother than with him, highlighting their differing communication styles.
Kim Soo-yong debuted as a KBS comedian in 1996 and is beloved for his unique slow-paced delivery and distinctive persona. He solidified his position by appearing in numerous comedy shows, including 'Gag Concert,' and has recently been active in acting and lecturing. Notably, his personal YouTube channel, 'Kim Soo-yong's Bbang-ssong-guk,' provides great entertainment to his fans.
