WJSN's Dayoung Dazzles with Bold Solo Debut 'Dayoung is Gonna Love Me, Right?'
Former WJSN member Dayoung is making waves with her first solo digital single, 'Dayoung is Gonna Love Me, Right?', nine years after her group debut. This marks a significant step into her individual artistry, as she has actively participated in shaping the entire project, from concept and lyrics to composition.
The lead track, 'Body', is an upbeat pop dance song that captures the intensity of a summer night and the spontaneous joy of falling in love. With its powerful beat, addictive hook, and Dayoung's refreshing vocals, the song evokes the feeling of the lingering summer. Notably, Dayoung has shed her previous innocent image, transforming with a striking platinum blonde hairstyle and daring fashion choices.
Dayoung expressed her excitement about the solo venture, stating, "I saw this as a stage to truly showcase the artistry of Dayoung." She added, "I've experimented a lot with new approaches, from the music production and styling to the performance and stage direction." The album centers around themes of 'confidence' and 'love', encouraging listeners to embrace self-love and self-assurance.
Alongside the title track 'Body', the single features 'Number One Rockstar' and 'Marry Me', a track co-written and co-composed by Dayoung, offering a comprehensive look at her growth as a solo artist.
"This album is my first step as an artist named Dayoung," she shared. "It feels incredibly special as it's the first release under my own name, filled with my genuine feelings and courage, and I believe it will be a work I cherish forever. I hope fans will see a new side of me and remember this album for it."
Dayoung debuted as a member of WJSN in 2016, taking on roles as a main dancer and sub-vocalist. Beyond her group activities, she has showcased her sharp wit and talent on various variety shows. This solo endeavor represents a crucial opportunity for Dayoung to fully express her musical capabilities for the first time since her debut.
