Former Korean fencing national team captain Nam Hyun-hee has been acquitted of fraud-related charges stemming from her relationship with ex-partner Jeon Cheong-jo. Her legal team announced her complete victory in an 1.1 billion won (approximately $800,000 USD) damages lawsuit filed by a victim of Jeon's scams.

Despite the plaintiff's claims that Nam was an accomplice, the court ruled that Nam, like the victim, was unaware of Jeon's true nature and fraudulent activities. The ruling stated that Nam herself was deceived by Jeon, confirming her status as a victim.

Nam Hyun-hee had previously stated that she was unaware of Jeon's scams and was herself exploited by the situation. This legal victory brings an end to the speculation and accusations that arose after her engagement to Jeon was announced in 2023, which was later revealed to be based on Jeon's elaborate fraud.

Nam Hyun-hee, born in 1981, was a prominent figure in Korean women's fencing.

She achieved significant success in international competitions, including winning gold medals at the 2006 Doha Asian Games and the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.

After retiring from her athletic career in 2022, Nam has been active as a fencing coach, focusing on nurturing young talent.
