Alternative Pop Duo Marrakech Returns with Second EP 'Colors' After 5 Years

Sophisticated minimalism and alternative-pop melodies coexist as the duo Marrakech makes a comeback with their second EP, 'Colors'.

Marrakech (members Kim Young-wook and Jo Sung-ha) released their second EP, 'Colors', today (16th) at noon on various music streaming platforms. This marks their first album release in approximately five years, following their debut EP 'Shape' in July 2020.

While 'Shape' defined Marrakech's musical form, 'Colors' delves into the spectrum of emotions and sounds contained within. Imagining colors that evoke each track is presented as a unique way to enjoy this new EP.

Prior to the EP's release, Marrakech surprised fans by launching an official website on the 5th. The site featured the album title, cover art, release date, and track previews, heightening the anticipation for their return.

The EP 'Colors' includes five tracks: the double title songs 'You' and 'Out of Time', alongside 'Whiteout', 'Jane Birkin', and 'Cage'. The album progresses from 'Whiteout,' signaling a new chapter, to 'Jane Birkin,' inspired by the iconic actress, the first title track 'You' capturing intense attraction and fleeting excitement, the second title track 'Out of Time' likening love to a game, and 'Cage,' showcasing a whirlwind of instrumental emotion.

Marrakech, formed by Kim Young-wook and Jo Sung-ha, debuted in 2019 with the single 'Floating'. Throughout their career, they have consistently presented alternative-pop music rooted in nu-disco, blending its inherent danceability with their signature restrained sensibility, romantic lyrics, and minimalist sound to offer a unique, sophisticated charm.

Following the release of 'Colors' today (16th), Marrakech will continue their active promotions by performing live at the 'MEETING ROOM 004 : Kim Seung-ju, Marrakech, A Wordless Orange' concert, a collaboration between Magic Strawberry Sound and Spotify, scheduled for the 20th.

Marrakech debuted in 2019 with the single 'Floating', carving out a niche in the nu-disco infused alternative pop genre. The duo consists of members Kim Young-wook and Jo Sung-ha. They have cultivated a dedicated fanbase with their distinctive minimalist sound and romantic lyrical themes.
