Actress Lee Young-ae is stepping up as the potential savior for KBS mini-series, taking on the lead role in the upcoming drama 'A Good Day to Be Acused.' She will star alongside Kim Young-kwang and Park Yong-woo, portraying a housewife who gets entangled with drugs.

At the production press conference held on the afternoon of the 16th at the Saint Hotel in Shindorim, Guro-gu, Seoul, Lee Young-ae shared her thoughts on her return to the small screen. "My character is a housewife who wants to protect her family," she explained. "It's a profession seen everywhere, so I felt I could approach it comfortably."

While the combination of Lee Young-ae's return and the participation of Kim Young-kwang and Park Yong-woo has generated anticipation, the platform, KBS, presents a challenge. In the past two years, no KBS mini-series has managed to surpass a 5.0% viewership rating. Notable examples include Ma Dong-seok's 'Twelve' at 2.4% and Lee Soon-jae's 'Bullshit' at 4.6%.

Despite these circumstances, the actors cited the high-quality script as their primary reason for joining 'A Good Day to Be Acused.' The drama follows Kang Eun-soo (Lee Young-ae), a housewife striving to protect her family, and Lee Kyung (Kim Young-kwang), who works as a teacher by day and a club MD by night, as they find themselves involved with a mysterious bag of drugs.

"The project is interesting, and the script's completion level was high," Lee Young-ae stated. "As it's a drama KBS is heavily promoting, I believe it will capture viewers' focused attention in the latter half of the year. Please trust my new challenge."

Park Yong-woo commented, "It's rare to find a script that makes me want to act immediately. It's a personal preference, but 'A Good Day to Be Acused' stirred my desire to act after many years. The script portrays common, predictable scenarios in a unique way, which is challenging yet captivating."

Kim Young-kwang expressed his honor, saying, "Just acting with senior Lee Young-ae is an honor. Her voice is truly wonderful; she conveys everything through her voice. I was in awe while filming."

Eun-soo, facing her husband's terminal diagnosis and impending financial ruin, will portray a somewhat unfashionable and ordinary image, a departure from the deeply layered female characters Lee Young-ae has often embodied in works like 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance,' 'One Fine Spring Day,' 'Inspector Koo,' and 'Maestro.' Lee Young-ae added, "I found the psychological transformation of an ordinary housewife into someone gradually changing quite interesting. I hope viewers focus on that. Despite the heavy subject of 'drugs,' the drama makes us realize what we truly cherish."

Lee Young-ae has frequently portrayed characters with complex backstories in acclaimed films and dramas such as 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance,' 'One Fine Spring Day,' 'Inspector Koo,' and 'Maestro.' In 'A Good Day to Be Acused,' she is set to showcase a transformation by embodying a character who is ordinary and, at times, appears unsophisticated. The series is expected to delve deeply into the psychological journey of a woman finding true values amidst dangerous circumstances.
