Kim Dahyun, a member of the globally popular K-pop group TWICE and an emerging actress, has shared insights into her portrayal of a character in the upcoming film 'Speed Race.'

During a press conference held on May 5th at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul, Dahyun discussed her role as Im Ji Eun. She described the character as a young woman who finds pure joy in running. Dahyun particularly focused on a scene where the character collapses on the track, savoring the feeling of being alive.

"I wanted to convey the feeling of happiness and exhilaration, of sensing that you're alive through the sound of your heartbeat while running," Dahyun explained. She also revealed that her personal experience with an ankle injury strongly influenced her connection to the character.

"Because I had injured my ankle before, I felt a deep connection to Ji Eun, and that frustration and sadness were projected into my performance," she candidly admitted. Dahyun also touched upon Ji Eun's evolving relationship with Kang Seung Yeol, played by Lee Shin Young. "Initially, she wasn't interested, but she started smiling only for Seung Yeol. Filming felt incredibly happy, like returning to my school days. It felt like we made joyful memories together," she reminisced.

'Speed Race' is a running drama centered on the relentless pursuit of elite sprinter Gu Young (Ha Seok Jin) to shave off 0.02 seconds from his record. Dahyun plays Im Ji Eun, a character who captivates Kang Seung Yeol at first sight. The film is set to premiere exclusively at Lotte Cinema on May 10th.

Kim Dahyun debuted in 2015 as a main rapper and sub-vocalist for TWICE, quickly gaining immense popularity worldwide. She also showcased her stable hosting skills as an MC for MBC's 'Show! Music Core' in 2016. Dahyun has actively pursued acting opportunities, with 'Speed Race' marking her feature film debut.
