MCT Festival Lights Up Autumn Night in Magok with Star-Studded Concert
Magok Square in Seoul will transform into a vibrant hub of culture and technology with the inaugural MCT Festival, running from September 12th to 14th. A major highlight of the festival is the 'MCT Big Concert,' scheduled for September 13th at 7 PM on the main MCT stage along Magok Central Road.
The concert boasts an impressive lineup featuring Korea's top hip-hop duo Dynamic Duo, the long-standing co-ed group Koyotae, rookie idol group NEWBEAT, crossover ensemble LA POEM, and trot singer Kang So-ri. The event is organized and sponsored by the Korea Music Copyright Association, with announcers Kim Hwan and Kim Hyun-young hosting.
Dynamic Duo, renowned for their unique hip-hop sound and collaborations, have solidified their place in the music scene. Koyotae, formed in 1998, continues to reign as Korea's longest-running co-ed trio, maintaining unwavering popularity. NEWBEAT, a 7-member group that debuted in March, is known for captivating performances, while LA POEM, winners of 'Phantom Singer 3,' have garnered a strong fanbase through their consistent album releases. Trot singer Kang So-ri is expected to energize the audience with her powerful vocals.
The festival will also feature the 'Terra Road Beer Festival' throughout its duration, enhancing the festive atmosphere. Prior to the concert, an opening ceremony will take place at 6 PM, including introductions and the awards ceremony for the 'Magok AI Video Story Contest,' followed by a special screening of the winning entries. A unique performance by a digital humanoid singer and a human-cloned android singer will also be a special attraction.
Beyond the concert, the first MCT Festival offers a diverse range of family-friendly activities. These include special screenings in collaboration with EBS International Documentary Festival (EIDF), a photo and video exhibition of the Gangseo-Magok archive, an AI Video Story Contest, AR stamp tours, a celebrity bazaar, flea markets, and a food zone. Organizers have emphasized that proceeds from the festival will be reinvested into the local community through scholarships, and any remaining sponsored goods will be donated to vulnerable families in Gangseo-gu via the Gangseo Welfare Foundation.
Dynamic Duo consists of members Choiza and Gaeko. Since their debut in 2004, they have released numerous hit songs such as 'Ring My Bell,' 'Smoke,' and 'Trabajo.' Both members are acclaimed for their exceptional rapping skills, as well as their songwriting and composing abilities.
