Shim Hyung-tak Reveals Son Haru Was the Key to 'Superman's Ratings Success, Opens Up About Wife's Concerns

Actor Shim Hyung-tak appeared on MBC's 'Radio Star' and shared behind-the-scenes stories from his appearance on 'The Return of Superman' with his son, Haru. Featured in the 'Rich Dad, Poor Body' special, Shim Hyung-tak announced he is experiencing a second prime in his career after becoming a father.

Shim Hyung-tak proudly noted that his son Haru was the reason 'The Return of Superman' achieved its highest ratings in three months during their appearance, with peak viewership exceeding 5%. He candidly shared that his Japanese wife initially struggled to understand and was very worried about the Korean variety show culture of revealing family and daily life.

Recalling the day of the first broadcast while at his in-laws' in Japan, Shim Hyung-tak mentioned that Haru received a lot of attention and photo requests from his wife's family. He humorously recounted how even on the airplane, people focused only on Haru, not him. He also praised his wife and son for their similar, 'cartoon-like' appearances. Finally, he joked that despite his 25-year acting career, his son's photos on social media garner significantly more likes.
