Shim Hyung-tak Reveals Wife's Family's 120-Year-Old Japanese Noodle Business
Actor Shim Hyung-tak has become the talk of the town after appearing on MBC's 'Radio Star' on the 10th, where he shared details about his marriage to his wife Saya, who is 18 years his junior, and revealed his father-in-law's remarkable family business.
Shim Hyung-tak recounted experiencing significant popularity during his appearance on 'The Return of Superman,' noting that even on an airplane, people recognized him, which surprised him given that public family disclosures are uncommon in Japan compared to Korea's reality variety shows.
He then elaborated on his father-in-law's legacy: a traditional noodle shop in Yamanashi that has been passed down for four generations over 120 years. The specialty is 'Hoto' noodles, made with water from Mt. Fuji, and legend has it that an ancestor married into a Mt. Fuji spring water business to perfect the noodles. His father-in-law is a well-known figure, even befriending local politicians.
When asked about taking over the family business, Shim Hyung-tak, who has been acting for 25 years, firmly stated he has no intention of doing so and will continue his acting career.
